The Literature Times: What inspired you to explore the theme of “Why am I not healthy even when I do everything right?”
Dr. Vishal Gupta: Being into the industry since more than three decades , I have been analysing the changing trends in the field of health and fitness. This book began with a question , that why so many people , especially in urban india , feel like they are constantly managing health but never quite feeling well or fit. As it is clear that we have knowledge, technology , access to all the latest amenities , still the health quotient and the fitness parameters are decreasing with each passing day.
The Literature Times: In your experience, how much influence do emotions and thoughts have on physical health?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: As I always its really easy to talk about fitness, but its not a debate or topic of discussion , its a series of habits we need to adopt in our lifestyle. We can be really passionate n strategic about fitness but what we are lacking is “Action”. We should be concrete about our actions n habits rather than being emotional and tactfull.
The Literature Times: Many people maintain perfect diet and exercise routines yet still feel unwell—what repetitive mistakes do you see most often?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: There is a beautifull quote
“The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding” We follow or adopt what is the best n not what is right for us which helps us in improving our weak areas. That is what we have tried in this book, it encourages you to listen to your body. Its about shifting from “what should I do?” to what actually works for me ?”
The Literature Times: How can modern science and holistic wellness work together instead of in opposition?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: Holistic wellness and modern science Holistic wellness treats the whole person (body, mind, spirit , emotions focusing on root causes with natural methods while modern science (evidence based medicine) target specific diseases using diagnostics , pharmacy and surgery excelling in emergencies but missing the big picture at times.
The best approach would be to integrate the both using science for acute needs and holistic approach for ongoing wellness and root cause resolution.
The Literature Times: You emphasize self-awareness as a key to real healing. What practical steps can readers take to build it?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: Juices or fruits are great , am sure you agree, but a person with high sugar and insulin resistance , will not be able to afford it. Walking or doing Cardio is great but a person with acute knee pain , will never enjoy the benefits , so SWOT (strength weakness opportunity threats) analysis is important and then you may strategically plan your ride ahead.
The Literature Times: In today’s fast-paced world, how can individuals recognize early signs of stress before they turn into health problems?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: Physical , mental , emotional or any other kind of stress , as we call it , never take a gigantic form. Our body always tells us , or I must say alarms us when someting goes wrong. I would recommend yearly checkups and monitoring to manage and control any kind of stress , so that it may not turn out to be a big issue.
The Literature Times: What role do sleep, digital habits, and comparison culture play in declining health?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: Sleep , digital habits and comparison culture
I always say “ If you want to shut your mind, then break your body”
I have seen people doing work outs for reels rather than results, doing long debates and searching diets and fancy workouts on google , disturbing there personal and professional lives.
We need to work more n talk less , rest our book will enlighten the readers for sure.
The Literature Times: Can healing truly begin without addressing emotional scars from the past? Why or why not?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: Life is a series of events , and trust me nothing is permanent . What has happened , has happened , its difficult but not impossible to start again. Fitness has played a major role in shaping my personal and professional life and helped me overcoming my past.
The Literature Times: What is the most life-changing discovery you made while working on this book—personally or professionally?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: This book is really close to me , as it made me explore my inner power n strength , mentally n physically , as I reinstate myself that all the knowledge, technology , n advice am getting today will never work till I do and , they can work as a tool to enhance my performance , that too , to the extent of my adaptability.
The Literature Times: If readers apply just one takeaway from your book, which message would you want it to be and why?
Dr. Vishal Gupta: “All the answers to your questions lies within, do not search them outside”
