Patna, November 13:
As Bihar gears up for the 2025 Assembly Election counting day on Thursday, November 14, the political atmosphere across the state is charged with anticipation. Both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan (MGB) are exuding confidence, claiming that the mandate will swing decisively in their favor.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Bihar recorded a historic voter turnout of 67.13% this year — the highest since 1951. The data revealed that 62.98% of male voters and a remarkable 71.78% of female voters exercised their franchise, setting a new participation record in the state’s electoral history. With no reports of discrepancies or malpractice, the ECI confirmed that no re-polling would be conducted across Bihar’s 90,740 polling booths.
Exit Polls Hint at an NDA Edge
Exit polls released on Tuesday have projected a comfortable victory for the NDA, though the margins vary across agencies.
- Axis My India predicted an NDA win with 121–141 seats, MGB 98–118, and Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) 0–2 seats.
- Today’s Chanakya forecasted a major BJP win, projecting 160 seats for the saffron alliance, 77 for RJD, and 6 for others.
- Across nine exit polls, the NDA’s average seat count stood around 147 in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, signaling a potential continuation of NDA rule.
Confidence High on Both Sides
While the NDA leaders have already begun celebrating what they call an “inevitable victory,” the MGB camp, led by the RJD, remains equally confident. Senior MGB leaders have dismissed the exit polls as “biased and unreliable,” claiming that the final results will tell a different story.
Meanwhile, Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor dismissed all exit poll predictions, calling them “fake” and expressing confidence that Bihar is on the brink of a historic political change.
What Lies Ahead
With just hours left before the counting begins, both alliances are holding strategy meetings and preparing their counting agents across districts. The ECI has made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth counting, with strict security measures and real-time result updates scheduled to be displayed on the official ECI portal.
As Bihar awaits the verdict of its voters, November 14 promises to be a decisive day that could shape the political landscape of the state for the next five years.
