Book Release: A Clinical Handbook of Organon of Medicine: The Divine Science by Dr. Manasa Ranjan Mahanta

A Clinical Handbook of Organon of Medicine: The Divine Science is a sincere and insightful attempt to help students, practitioners and enthusiasts understand the Organon of Medicine in a deeper, clearer and clinically meaningful way. Rather than being just another commentary, this work guides readers into the very foundation of homoeopathic philosophy by harmonising the 5th and 6th editions of the Organon and presenting them in a format that is practical, comprehensible and directly applicable to daily practice.

The book goes beyond the conventional academic approach. It explores the immaterial aspect of the human organism, the functioning of the mind, the role of karma, and the subtle processes of perception — how individuals interpret the world and how these interpretations influence health and disease. By presenting these concepts in alignment with classical principles and clinical realities, the book acts as a bridge between philosophy and practice.

Each aphorism is thoughtfully explained, with the author’s understanding placed in dedicated boxed sections for easy reference. This structure makes it a valuable companion during case taking, providing clarity on interpreting symptoms, perceiving the patient as a whole and applying the Organon’s wisdom in both acute and chronic cases. The work is deeply rooted in the spiritual underpinnings of the Samuel Hahnemann’s teachings, while drawing extensively from the vision of the Upanishads and Vedanta, allowing readers to appreciate the Organon as not just a medical text, but as a profound guide to understanding human nature.

What sets this book apart is its effort to present the Organon in a truly clinical way — something many learners struggle to find. The philosophical aspects are not left floating in abstraction; they are connected meaningfully to practical experience, helping readers recognise the person behind the disease and appreciate the deeper laws governing health, imbalance and restoration.

Behind this enlightening contribution is Dr. Manasa Ranjan Mahanta, a devoted clinician and thinker who completed his BHMS from Mayurbhanj Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital in 2010. His training under Dr. Radhakanta Mohapatra, a noted predictive homoeopathy practitioner in Odisha, shaped his understanding of the subject and strengthened his clinical acumen. For the past sixteen years, Dr. Mahanta has been practicing predictive homoeopathy and has successfully treated numerous challenging cases that many considered beyond recovery.

Currently posted at the Govt. Homoeopathic Dispensary Satakuta as a Homoeopathic Medical Officer with the Government of Odisha, he continues to integrate classical homoeopathy with deep philosophical insight. His approach draws from the Upanishadic and Vedantic understanding of the human being, resonating with Hahnemann’s assertion that “man is liable for the disease.”

This book is the first in his effort to help readers truly understand the individual behind the illness and to navigate the Organon with greater sensitivity and wisdom. With more works underway, Dr. Mahanta’s contributions promise to enrich the homoeopathic community for years to come.
