Book Release: Building Blocks of Mathematics for College Students by Dr. Manjusha P. Gandhi

“Building Blocks of Mathematics for College Students” by Dr. Manjusha P. Gandhi is a meticulously crafted resource designed to bridge the gap between foundational mathematical knowledge and its application at the undergraduate level. With over three decades of teaching experience in engineering and science colleges, Dr. Gandhi has consistently observed a recurring challenge: students pursuing graduation in disciplines such as engineering, science, commerce, pharmacy, and architecture often struggle to recall and apply the essential mathematical concepts learned during their school years. Recognizing the absence of a single, comprehensive reference that consolidates school-level mathematics in a structured and accessible manner, she embarked on creating a book that would fulfill this critical academic need.

This book is unique in its scope and organization. It compiles the entire breadth of mathematical concepts taught from grade six to twelve, presenting them in a systematic and student-friendly format. Divided into 21 well-organized chapters, each section opens with clearly stated objectives, followed by precise definitions and essential formulae. A major strength of the book lies in its graded examples — ranging from easy to very difficult — which cater to diverse learning levels and help students gradually build their problem-solving skills. Each chapter concludes with a curated set of unsolved problems, designed to reinforce the concepts and encourage independent practice. Notably, both the solved and unsolved problems in the book are original creations by the author, ensuring relevance and clarity for contemporary learners.

Dr. Manjusha P. Gandhi, currently serving as Associate Professor at Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur, holds a Ph.D. from Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, earned in 1994. A respected academician, she has contributed extensively to engineering education through her research and scholarly work, with around 90 research papers published in renowned national and international journals and conferences. Her dedication to academic growth is further reflected in her involvement in organizing numerous Student Development Programs (SDPs) and Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), aimed at enhancing teaching and learning in technical education.

“Building Blocks of Mathematics for College Students” is more than a textbook—it is a long-needed companion for college students who seek to strengthen their mathematical foundation and apply it with confidence in higher studies and professional domains.
