Six members of the proscribed CPI (Maoist) were slain early Wednesday in Visakhapatnam district in an alleged exchange of fire with the elite Greyhounds of the Andhra Pradesh Police. According to a communiqué from the DGP’s office, a senior Maoist leader and a female member were among those slain.
