Book Release: Pratidhvani – Smritiyon kee Gunj by Tushar Kanti Banerjee

Pratidhvani – Smritiyon kee Gunj” is a touching recollection of a life deeply connected to India’s evolving social and cultural landscape. Written by Tushar Kanti Banerjee, this book captures the nostalgic echoes of an era gone by, weaving together personal memories with the collective emotions of a generation that witnessed India’s journey from simplicity to modernity.

At its heart, Pratidhvani is more than a memoir—it is a lyrical reflection on time, relationships, and the essence of human experience. The book paints vivid pictures of the 1960s and 1970s—those unforgettable decades of innocence, discovery, and change. Readers are transported to a time when the hum of a radio filled homes with melodies, when children chased colorful kites across open fields, and when letters written in careful handwriting carried love, longing, and life’s tender sentiments across miles.

Through the author’s eyes, we relive the transformation from rural to urban life, from handwritten communication to modern means of connection, and from simple living to a world driven by ambition and change. The pages resonate with the sounds and smells of India’s villages—the earthy fragrance after rain, the rustle of trees in the monsoon breeze, and the laughter of children playing under the open sky.

Pratidhvani reflects the deep emotional bond between generations. The author’s memories are not solitary—they belong to every reader who has ever reminisced about the warmth of family, the struggles of youth, or the quiet beauty of everyday life. The book is also a heartfelt tribute to his daughter, Dr. Indushree Banerjee, whose curiosity and encouragement inspired this memoir, and to his younger daughter Sritama, whose love and support helped shape it.

The narrative flows with sincerity and gratitude. The author recounts his humble beginnings in Bhagwanpur, a small village in Bihar, where education was a hard-earned privilege. Walking barefoot through muddy roads to reach school, he absorbed life’s lessons in perseverance, honesty, and hope. His father’s sacrifices—selling land each year to educate his children—etched a lasting impression of resilience and family devotion.

After completing his Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the College of Agriculture, Allahabad, in 1979, Tushar Kanti Banerjee embarked on a remarkable professional journey. From his early service in the Government of Odisha, focusing on tree plantation, water conservation, and tribal welfare, to his later work in the Bihar Agriculture Department and IFFCO (Indian Farmers’ Fertilizer Cooperative Society), his contributions to rural development and sustainable agriculture stand out. Representing India at a farmers’ event in Florida in 2012 marked a proud milestone in his career.

Even after his retirement in 2015, Banerjee continues to dedicate his life to empowering rural communities, promoting women’s participation, and fostering self-reliance among farmers. His story is one of humility, hard work, and enduring commitment to service.

With Pratidhvani – Smritiyon kee Gunj, the author invites readers to pause, reflect, and reconnect—with their roots, their memories, and the simple yet profound joys that once defined life. It is a book that stirs both heart and soul—a timeless echo of the past that continues to inspire the present.
