“Balyavastha Aur Vikas: Bal Man Ki Samajh Aur Vikas Ke Aayam” is a thoughtful and academically rich work that focuses on one of the most crucial phases of human life—childhood. This book highlights how the early years of life are marked by rapid, sensitive, and deeply influential development, during which the foundations of a child’s physical, mental, social, emotional, and moral personality are firmly laid. Childhood is a stage where the mind is naturally receptive, imaginative, and creative, making it essential to understand the principles, processes, and factors that shape child development so that every child can be nurtured according to their unique potential.

In today’s changing educational landscape, the purpose of education has expanded beyond mere knowledge acquisition. Equal importance is now given to personality development, value education, life skills, and social responsibility. Keeping this broader vision in mind, the book emphasizes the significance of studying child and adolescent development for teachers, parents, teacher educators, and all those associated with the field of education. It bridges theoretical understanding with practical relevance, helping readers connect psychological concepts with real-life educational settings.

The book presents the entire process of child development in a systematic and well-structured manner. It explores the meaning and concept of development, major theories of development, characteristics of various age stages, and the biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors that influence growth. The content has been written in a simple, illustrative, and practical style, making complex ideas easy to understand and apply. This approach makes the book especially useful for students of teacher education courses such as B.Ed., D.El.Ed., M.Ed., and other related programs, while also serving as a valuable reference for practicing teachers and parents who wish to better understand child psychology.

Authored by Dr. Megha Manish Sharma and Dr. Jagdish Chandra Sharma, the book reflects a strong blend of psychological insight and educational experience. Dr. Megha Manish Sharma, an Associate Professor at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam University, Indore, is widely known for her sensitive and lucid writing on psychology, mental health, literature, and life values. With a PhD in Psychology, a Diploma in Guidance and Counseling, an M.Ed., and postgraduate degrees in Psychology and Hindi Literature, along with more than 17 years of academic experience—including significant work in the field of disability—she brings depth, empathy, and practical understanding to the subject. Her rich research background, with 15 published papers and experience in guiding PhD scholars, adds strong academic credibility to this work. This is her second book, following the well-received “Maun Nahi, Swabhiman Hoon Main,” and her commitment to knowledge, self-awareness, and empowerment is clearly reflected throughout the text.

Dr. Jagdish Chandra Sharma, Principal, Faculty of Education, is an experienced academician with M.A. degrees in Hindi, History, and Political Science, along with an M.Ed. and a PhD in Education. With over two decades of teaching and administrative experience in prestigious colleges of Rajasthan and the last eight years at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam University, Indore, he has made significant contributions to the fields of education and political science. His authorship of more than 20 research papers, along with his experience in organizing faculty development programs and national seminars, strengthens the scholarly foundation of this book.

Together, the authors have created a comprehensive and meaningful resource that not only supports academic study but also helps teachers and parents gain a deeper understanding of children’s minds and developmental needs. “Balyavastha Aur Vikas: Bal Man Ki Samajh Aur Vikas Ke Aayam” stands as a valuable guide for anyone committed to nurturing balanced, confident, and socially responsible individuals through informed and empathetic education.
