Author Interview Questions: Dhani Ashish Rana

The Literature Times: Ashish Rana, what inspired you to write “maanav hoon, aakhir kya chaahata hoon,” and what emotional journey led to its creation?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – Because I couldn’t express the emotions I was suppressing inside to anyone, I started writing them down in my diary. Gradually, it became a means of self-expression for me, and that’s how this book was created.

The Literature Times: Many of your poems deal with painful social realities. How emotionally challenging was it to write them?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – It is very difficult to accurately portray any emotion, feeling, or human sentiment. But these challenges inspired me, and I was able to do it.

The Literature Times: Your book beautifully balances darkness and hope. How did you maintain this emotional equilibrium while writing?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – Good and bad things exist everywhere.  Not everything in this world can go according to our wishes, so we shouldn’t give up on hope. That’s the same message I’ve conveyed in the book as well.

The Literature Times: Which poem from the book is closest to your heart, and why?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – I really like the poem titled “dukho ki mandiya ” because I have shed light on issues that society needs to be aware of.

The Literature Times: As someone working in the police department, how has your professional life influenced your perspective as a poet?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – Yes, that’s a very good question. Working in the police department has given me the opportunity to understand society, the world, and people more closely. This broadens my perspective as a poet and is a rewarding experience for a writer

The Literature Times: – What do you believe is the biggest message readers should take away from this book?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – They should be even more responsible and sensitive towards people and society.

The Literature Times: You talk about emotions that society often silences. Do you feel poetry can bring social awareness and change?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – Yes, this is my firm belief, and writers like us should continue to make these efforts.

The Literature Times: How did your journey as a writer begin, and who has been your biggest support system?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – I started writing about five or six years ago, and gradually this journey progressed, and the suppressed emotions within me greatly inspired me.

The Literature Times: – What challenges did you face while publishing your first poetry collection?
Dhani Ashish Rana: – Yes, many questions arise in my mind: Is what I’m doing right? Will it be possible? Will the readers like it? But when everything is done, all the fears in my mind disappear.

The Literature Times: What can readers expect next from you? Are there any upcoming literary projects in progress?
