Book Release: The Yatra of Rising UP: A data-driven analysis of CM Yogi Adityanath’s Governance in Uttar Pradesh by Sandeep Mishra

A new book, The Yatra of Rising UP: A Data-Driven Analysis of CM Yogi Adityanath’s Governance in Uttar Pradesh, by author and technology and policy professional Sandeep Mishra, offers a detailed account of the transformation taking place in India’s most populous state.

The book examines Uttar Pradesh’s development journey under the BJP government, focusing on the policies, governance reforms and institutional initiatives that have sought to reshape the state’s infrastructure, economy, law and order, tourism, social security and opportunities for its youth.

At the heart of The Yatra of Rising UP is an attempt to understand governance through data, policy outcomes and real-world impact. The book traces Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as an “expressway state” and highlights the expansion of roads, connectivity and other infrastructure that has helped strengthen links between cities, districts and economic centres. It also examines the state’s efforts to attract investment, promote industrial development and create a more favourable business environment.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the book explores wider dimensions of development. It looks at tourism and cultural heritage, social welfare, employment and youth empowerment, as well as initiatives aimed at improving public safety and strengthening law and order. By bringing together facts, figures, policy developments and examples from the ground, Mishra seeks to present a comprehensive picture of a state undergoing significant change.

The book also places leadership at the centre of its analysis. It examines the governance approach of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the BJP government, while considering how targeted reforms, administrative initiatives and what the author describes as the “double-engine” model of government have influenced development outcomes.

Rather than presenting Uttar Pradesh’s journey solely through political rhetoric, the book seeks to use data and evidence as tools for understanding the scale and direction of change. This makes it relevant not only to political observers but also to policymakers, researchers, students, development professionals and citizens interested in the future of Uttar Pradesh.

Sandeep Mishra brings a distinctive international and technology-oriented perspective to the subject. He is recognised as a member of the United Nations and was associated with Mastermind 2022. He has also served on the board of TEB, University of Exeter, and has worked with multinational companies in France, Germany and Switzerland, with a professional focus on innovation and digital transformation.

Mishra is a Fellow of the International Science Council and is associated with the UN Global Digital Compact. He completed his MS from INP Grenoble, France, and pursued leadership education at INSEAD Business School, Paris. His professional experience across technology, innovation and international business informs the book’s emphasis on measurable outcomes, transformation and self-reliance.

Having been associated with BJP ideology for around two decades, Mishra is also a strong believer in the principle of Antyodaya—the idea of uplifting the last person in the line. This philosophy finds expression in his emphasis on inclusive development, economic self-sufficiency and technological self-reliance.

The Yatra of Rising UP ultimately invites readers to look at Uttar Pradesh not merely as a state with immense challenges, but as a state with extraordinary potential. Its central narrative is one of transition—from infrastructure gaps and governance challenges toward greater connectivity, investment, security and opportunity.

With its combination of data, policy analysis and development perspectives, the book presents a contemporary account of Uttar Pradesh’s ongoing transformation and opens a larger conversation about how governance and leadership can shape the destiny of one of India’s most important states.
