Dr. Vitthalrao B. Khyade, a distinguished scientist and educator, has dedicated his life to the advancement and popularization of science. After serving three years as a Junior College teacher and thirty-three years as a Professor of Zoology at Agricultural Development Trust’s Shardabai Pawar Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Baramati, he retired in May 2023. His groundbreaking research on the use of juvenile hormone analogues, herbal compounds, Stevia inulin, and plant extractives in silkworm rearing has significantly contributed to the sericulture industry.
Dr. Khyade’s pioneering work on the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) led to the development of anti-aging formulations and the discovery of antimicrobial proteins with potential applications in immunity enhancement and cancer treatment. With over 300 research papers, 30 international awards, and collaborations with Nobel Laureates, Dr. Khyade’s academic contributions are globally recognized. His commitment to science communication through the platform “Dr. APIS – Science Spectrum” has earned him numerous honors, including the “Best Scientist” award from Bharathiar University.
