Dr. Vitthalrao B. Khyade is a distinguished scientist and educator whose career spans decades of teaching and research. Beginning as a Junior College teacher at Rajendra Vidyalaya and Junior College, Khandala District, Satara, he later served as Professor in Zoology for thirty-three years at Agricultural Development Trust, Shardabai Pawar Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Shardanagar, Malegaon Baramati. He retired on 31 May 2023, leaving behind a legacy of scientific exploration and mentorship.
His research contributions are significant and multifaceted. He has worked extensively with Juvenoid compounds, herbal compounds like Digoxin, Stevia Inulin, terpene compounds including retinol, and acetone extracts of selected plants for the commercial rearing of silkworm larvae. Additionally, his studies on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) have contributed to advancements in anti-aging formulations and demonstrated the potential role of antimicrobial proteins in boosting immunity and cancer research.
Dr. Khyade’s dedication has earned him more than thirty international awards for best research papers and presentations. He has published over three hundred research papers, including twenty-eight collaborations with Nobel Laureates. Under his guidance, one research scholar has completed a Ph.D., and two scholars have earned their M.Phil. degrees. Beyond research, his commitment to popularizing science through initiatives like Dr. APIS-Science-Spectrum has garnered recognition from the Global Society for Health and Educational Growth and awards such as “Best Scientist” from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
