Well, before starting the review of this inspiring title, HANG ON: A Second Wind by Author Eshwarmurthy G Pillai let me very clearly mention that the book talks about a very sensitive subject, i.e. suicide! The Author has written this book with a very positive attitude and has talked about the implications of suicides and the book discourages any such act, where one is driven to a situation of crossing the line between life & death.

About the Author: Author Eshwarmurthy G Pillai, was born in 1972 in Mumbai, a city of dreams. His grandfather had influenced him immensely towards leading a social life. Starting the profession career as a Medical Representative in Mumbai, he experienced patient’s trauma closely, which still continues. Working with two great pharma giants, he developed the passion of writing and innovative thinking. After completing his MBA in 2003, the pharma journey continued and gave an opportunity to travel across India. In the process, he went on acquiring knowledge by interacting with the people in various fields.

Hang On – A Second Wind, the first book of the series “Hang On” results from those acquaintances from the farmers of drought affected region.


Book’s Introduction: This book, Hang On – A Second Wind by Author Eshwarmurthy G Pillai presents a very beautiful story of a person named, Subodh and the things that happened in his life, when he was ready to commit suicide. The central character of the plot Subodh happens to meet Vanhi, a schoolgirl near a railway track. Their initial conversation enlightens him and the grief disappears in no time, because of her innocence and simplicity. All those intentions of committing suicide are metamorphosed by her audacity and the magical tiffin box that she carries!

The story begins on a very disturbing point, a farmer who is about to commit suicide. To his meeting with a special person and how his life transformed in just moments after that meeting with a schoolgirl named Vanhi. The book presents an inspiring journey of Subodh from being debt ridden and going to commit suicide to taking up responsibility, fighting courageously for himself and then his pledge to make things better for not only himself but also others around him.

Book Title: The title of this book, “Hang On – A Second Wind” is most certainly a catchy title and this is something which makes the book even more interesting, as the title itself compels you as a reader to pick up this book for a read. You would feel a longing urge to dive inside the chapters of this book and try to understand the Author’s own interpretation of the various subject matters highlighted in this book.

Well, without any shred of doubt, Author Eshwarmurthy G Pillai has completely succeeded in choosing a perfect Title along with a very sound Sub-title for his book and his writings too had fully justified the title. Therefore, I must mention that it is a very apt title for this book and the Author had been extremely wise to go for this title!

The book highlights the fact that how suicide can be a curse for the family of the one, who gave up his/her life.
