Book Release Article : The Last Page by Shivendra

The Last Page by Shivendra is a heartfelt and thought-provoking novel that explores the intertwined themes of love, ambition, failure, and self-discovery. Set against the backdrop of the intense world of civil service examinations, it tells the story of two young dreamers — Varad and Antima — whose lives cross paths in a way that changes them forever.

Both are preparing for the UPSC exam — a journey that tests not only their intellect but also their patience, endurance, and emotional strength. Antima, a girl with a unique philosophy toward life, views success and happiness from a deeply human and spiritual lens. Varad, on the other hand, represents the conventional dreamer — disciplined, ambitious, and convinced that success lies only in achievement. Their meeting brings together two contrasting worlds of thought, gradually unfolding into an undefined love that is tender, unspoken, and real.

As fate would have it, Antima clears the UPPCS examination, stepping forward into a new phase of her life, while Varad is left grappling with failure and loneliness. Yet, in his solitude, he begins to see life from a new perspective. His repeated failures — especially in his final attempt — become the turning point of his journey. The realization dawns that success is not defined by a single outcome or exam; it is an evolving journey shaped by multiple possibilities, lessons, and emotions.

Through Varad’s transformation, Shivendra gently conveys a powerful message — that life’s meaning does not lie in comparison or competition but in self-acceptance and contentment. The story beautifully captures the inner world of aspirants who chase dreams relentlessly, often forgetting that happiness has many doors, not just one labeled “success.”

Written in a simple yet emotionally resonant style, The Last Page speaks to readers of all ages, especially those navigating the pressure-filled corridors of academic and professional goals. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the last page of one story is the first page of another.
