Author Bio: Dr. Geetika Vashishta is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, College of Vocational Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi, India.
She has keen interest in the flourishing field of Data Science and hence chose the same for her doctoral degree. She secured second position in graduation, B.Sc.(H) Computer Science, and topped the University Of Delhi in the subject ‘Artificial Intelligence’. At the post graduation level, MCA, she secured third rank and had topped the university in many subjects with the highest ever score in the university in the subject- DBMS. She started her career with top notch IT firms like Aricent Technologies Limited and Samsung Engineering Labs as a Software Engineer. After getting an exposure of the industry, she chose to join teaching as she has always been passionate about it. She qualified the National Eligibility test (NET) and then joined as an Assistant Professor in University of Delhi. She has authored as well as reviewed several research articles in reputed International Journals of Springer. She has written many chapters in books of repute. She has attended many National and International workshops, seminars and conferences. She has also organized seminars on trending topics in the Department of Computer Science, CVS. She adopts a multi-disciplinary approach and has actively designed course guidelines for the paper ‘Data analytics in Tourism industry’ of BACHELOR OF ARTS (VS) TOURISM MANAGEMENT and has written book chapters for management students as well.

The Literature Times: Author, welcome to The Literature Times. Congratulations on the publication of your book! What feedback do you get from your readers? Please share your thoughts on this book.
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: This book treats Sentiment Analysis as a separate discipline to highlight the role of mining the public opinion while exploiting the trending features like emojis. This book stresses on Sentiment Analysis as a systematic process and gives insight into the practical importance of opinion mining. This book has been written in lucid manner and is packed with practical approaches of extracting, processing and mining opinions. It discusses all the sentiment analysis approaches and compares their performance. Each chapter starts with the learning objectives and ends with a summary containing a quick review of important points discussed in the chapter.
The Literature Times: What motivates you to become a writer?
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: Writing is intellectually stimulating as it requires critical thinking, research, and the ability to organize ideas effectively. A love for reading often goes hand-in-hand with becoming a writer. I want to contribute to the evolving field of Sentiment Analysis.
The Literature Times: What are your favourite writing topics? Please tell us a little bit about your literary interests.
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: Writing is an art! My literary interests range from computer science to numerology and even Tarot.

Dr. Geetika Vashishta: Eisner and Barbieri have contributed a lot to the field of emojis based Sentiment Analysis. I have extended their work.
The Literature Times: The title is unique and appealing; how did you come up with them? Please tell us the story behind it.
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: The story is indeed interesting. Emojis can be used as valuable indicators of sentiment in text analysis. They often express emotions or feelings and can complement traditional sentiment analysis methods. That idea encouraged me to dive deeper into the realm of emojis to explore their role in Sentiment Analysis.
The Literature Times: What are your achievements so far? Tell us something about your writing career.
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: I have authored as well as reviewed several research articles in reputed International Journals of Springer and have written many chapters in books of repute. I have mainly into technical content creation.
The Literature Times: What is your current goal in writing a career? How do you see your future in writing?
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: I like to write, often we write that which we can never say or do, which life cannot live. so i’m just doing my Karma the fruits should be left on time.
The Literature Times: Do you have any other books in the works? Please keep us updated on your future endeavours.
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: I have three books in pipeline. One on “R programming”, one on numerology and another one on Tarot.
The Literature Times: How do you view Indian writing in the twenty-first century? What changes do you see in today’s writing style? Do you feel it has been changed by the time?
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: Indian writing in the twenty-first century has flourished with diverse voices, embracing global themes while maintaining cultural identity. The writing style has evolved, blending genres and experimenting with language and narrative forms. Contemporary Indian literature reflects modern issues, urbanization, and a focus on personal stories and perspectives. Time has indeed brought significant changes, fostering an inclusive and dynamic literary landscape in India. Earlier, we hardly had Indian authors work in Computer Science but now the scenario has changed completely.
The Literature Times: How simple/difficult was it for you to publish your book? What message do you want to send to aspiring authors?
Dr. Geetika Vashishta: It was a beautiful journey yet it had its ups and downs. As they say, all is well it it ends well.
Message to aspiring authors:
- Be Passionate: Writing requires dedication and passion. Embrace your love for storytelling and stay committed to your craft.
- Polish Your Writing: Invest time in honing your writing skills and revising your manuscript. Seek feedback from peers, writing groups, or beta readers to improve your work.
- Persevere: Rejections are common in the publishing industry. Don’t be disheartened by them. Keep submitting your work and exploring different publishing options.
- Stay Patient and Positive: The publishing journey may have its ups and downs. Stay patient, believe in yourself, and maintain a positive outlook.
- Read Widely: Expand your reading horizons to gain inspiration and insights from various genres and authors.
