An Interview with Author Suvalagna Chandra
The Literature Times: What inspired you to become an author and write Mesmerizing Melodies?
Suvalagna Chandra: It feels like writing is in me since my birth. Since my childhood days, I am good in writing and imagination. My passion for English language is deep and the depth went into such an extent that in turn gave birth to a book called Mesmerising Melodies.
The Literature Times: How did you decide on the themes and topics for your poems?
Suvalagna Chandra: Since I can imagine a lot, so making poems came into my mind and as days passed by new topics cropped up and I made it a target to cover all the genres of life and after-life.
The Literature Times: What was your creative process like when writing Mesmerizing Melodies?
Suvalagna Chandra: Nothing as such. The process is automatic which is inborne in poets since their birth!
The Literature Times: How did you choose the illustrations to accompany your poems?
Suvalagna Chandra: I matched the illustrations with my poems, that’s it.
The Literature Times: How has your background in IT influenced your writing style?
Suvalagna Chandra: My background in IT has nothing to do with my becoming an author and poet. Writing is my passion and I’m an IT professional.
The Literature Times: What was your favorite poem to write in Mesmerizing Melodies, and why?
Suvalagna Chandra: Love Letter is my favourite poem out of all them. It totally describes an appropriate love letter from top to bottom.
The Literature Times: Can you share with us the story behind the poem “Father”?
Suvalagna Chandra: Father is my inspiration and like an umbrella. Writing for father or parents is an honour.
The Literature Times: Who are some of your biggest influences when it comes to poetry and writing?
Suvalagna Chandra: My late grandfather used to write poems as well. May be I got this talent from him.
The Literature Times: How do you hope readers will connect with your book?
Suvalagna Chandra: It is upto the readers how they connect with my book. I am open to any feedback.
The Literature Times: How do you balance writing poetry with your professional career?
Suvalagna Chandra: At night when sleep doesn’t come, I write poems.
The Literature Times: What advice do you have for aspiring writers and poets?
Suvalagna Chandra: Don’t keep your mind blank, in your free time try to write or make poems.
The Literature Times: What was the biggest challenge you faced while writing Mesmerizing Melodies?
Suvalagna Chandra: I faced no such challenges but yes, I made a target to finish writing the book within a timeframe and reaching that goal was too tough.
The Literature Times: How has the feedback been from readers so far?
Suvalagna Chandra: Fortunately, I received no negative feedback till date. All the mesmerising feedback!
